Give STL Day Nonprofit Night at the Armory
We kicked off Give STL Day a little early by joining the St. Louis Community Foundation and other local nonprofits for Nonprofit Night at the Armory on Wednesday, May 8. We were excited to talk to the community about our fundraising efforts for building a Problem Solving Toolkit for Teens as part of our Student-Led Peer Mediation (SLPM) programming. This Give STL Day we were focusing on creating this toolkit which includes funding SLPM training for youth in STL County libraries (we already have this programming through the STL City library).
Workers’ Rights Town Hall 🏙
On April 29, the Board of Aldermen (BOA) and BOA President Megan E. Green hosted the Workers’ Rights Town Hall at IBEW Local 1 to discuss the stall in workers’ pay and benefits despite record growth across industries. We were glad to be able to table this event and take part in important conversations about the importance of access to good working conditions for citizens in our region. Improved working conditions can lead working citizens to more peaceful lives both at work and at home, and steady jobs more easily allow people to maintain stable housing situations so these conversations sit at the crux of the work we are trying to do.
North Newstead Open House 🏡
On Friday, April 26, 2024, CRCSTL attended the North Newstead Association (NNA) Open House and Give STL Day Kickoff Fundraiser. Community members were able to learn about what NNA has been up to over the last 30 years, learn about their renewed mission, and what they have planned for the remainder of 2024.
CRCSTL’s own Sheila Webster, Outreach Manager, attended the event and is pictured here with Constance Siu, Executive Director at NNA. We love local organizations doing important work around creating safe and stable housing options, and we greatly appreciate our partnership with NNA!
OVP Kickback - Fairground Park ☀️
The first outdoor OVP Kickback of 2024 was a great event! Tabling and getting to speak with members of the community at monthly events is always a pleasure - made even better by a beautiful day. And of course, we are always happy to have the opportunity to spread the word about our free services around conflict coaching, mediation, conflict resolution and promoting de-escalation in hopes of preventing violence.
These are free neighborhood events, providing residents a place to gather for food, music and entertainment. Each future events will be hosted in new locations on the third Saturday of every month.
