About Conflict Resolution Center

The Conflict Resolution Center (CRCSTL) works to provide professional dispute resolution services that are accessible to all. We aim to be a leader in promoting peaceful, lasting and effective solutions to conflict in St. Louis and the surrounding area. CRCSTL mediates conflicts between city employees and/or their supervisors, neighbor to neighbor problems, disputes between civilians and the police, among other conflicts. We are committed to resolving disputes in the region, including cases with and without pending legal matters.

Position Summary

The Mediation Manager will be responsible for maintaining an active case load, coordinating mediations, mediating disputes, coordinating one-on-one conflict coaching sessions, and providing mediation docket support (pro se mediations) to CRCSTL staff and docket participants. As needed, the Mediation Manager will also coordinate coaching and mediation efforts with volunteers and contractors. The mediation manager will also be responsible for administration of CRCSTL’s bi-annual Rule 17 Civil Mediation training.

Areas of Responsibility

  1. Direct Service Provision

    1. Reviewing intake files and scheduling mediations with participants,

    2. Conducting mediation and conflict coaching sessions on behalf of CRCSTL in safe, confidential environments, and

    3. Providing support to CRCSTL’s pro se mediation efforts, including mediating at Friday dockets, and troubleshooting mediation issues that occur at the dockets (in person and online).

  2. Case Management, Case Assignment, and Mediator Training

    1. Managing CRCSTL’s Mediation team (contractors, volunteers, and staff) and supporting them with casework, including reporting, invoicing, documentation, briefing, and troubleshooting both remotely and on-site,

    2. Managing fee-for-service mediations, coaching sessions, and facilitations as they arise by interfacing with clients post-intake, determining case needs, and assigning out cases to qualified service providers,

    3. Overseeing CRCSTL’s conflict resolution service administration, including tracking services, assigning out and delegating mediations/coaching sessions to contractors and volunteers, scheduling services, ensuring documentation is properly filed, reporting on services, and coordinating follow-up, and

    4. Coordinating CRCSTL’s bi-annual Rule 17 training program and speaking at internal training events.

  3. Other duties as assigned that further CRCSTL’s mission.

Professional Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess the following:

  • Rule 17 Certification from the Missouri Bar to mediate civil disputes in Missouri courts;

  • Rule 88 Certification (preferred but not required);

  • Experience conducting mediations; 

  • Experience with case management and case management software;

  • Experience working with courts and judges;

  • Experience with legal drafting principles;

  • Experience in the housing field preferred, but not required;

  • One year of progressive experience in leadership and management, mediation skills (a trained mediator is preferred), with documented ability to manage staff/volunteers and lead teams;

  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds;

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills; and

  • Creative and innovative approaches to reaching community members.

Compensation
