About Conflict Resolution Center – St. Louis
The Conflict Resolution Center – St. Louis (CRCSTL) works to provide professional dispute resolution services that are accessible to all. We aim to be a leader in promoting peaceful, lasting and effective solutions to conflict in St. Louis and the surrounding area, primarily through the facilitation and education of our mediation services.
CRCSTL mediates conflicts between city employees and/or their supervisors, neighbors, civilians and the police, as well as other conflicts in St. Louis. We are committed to resolving disputes in the region, including cases with and without pending legal matters.
Position Summary
The Mediation Support and Communication internship at CRCSTL offers a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience in conflict resolution, mediation support, community outreach and communications. Interns will assist with day-to-day mediation activities and support outreach efforts to promote CRCSTL services.
Areas of Responsibility
Day-to-day responsibilities (variable):
Mediation Support:
Provide support during Friday morning court mediations at the landlord/tenant eviction docket, including logistics and coordination
Collect pre-mediation forms and assist with case review and document collection
May help maintain records and collect data related to mediation outcomes
Other support duties as needed
Outreach & Communications:
Present CRCSTL’s services to new employees of St. Louis City as part of orientation sessions (this happens on Tuesday afternoons)
Support and assist in some outreach events to promote CRCSTL’s services to the community (this may require 1-3 Saturday availabilities)
Contribute to the creation of outreach materials, such as brochures and presentations
Calendar events, track contacts, and assist with organizational databases
Speaking with clients and the public, collecting testimonials via telephone, email and videos
Support crafting video & reel content for social media posts
Other Duties May Include:
Research emerging topics in mediation and conflict resolution to support program development
Participate in strategic planning initiatives, such as identifying new outreach opportunities or assisting with content creation
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals and operational needs
Professional Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess the following:
Strong interest in conflict resolution, mediation, or related fields;
Experience working with diverse populations;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Video creation and editing experience preferred;
Comfort working virtually, in-person and with the public;
Creative and innovative approaches to reaching community members;
Reliable access to transportation (note: position requires attending community events and weekly court sessions in person), and
Ability to lift 30lbs.
Compensation: This a stipend based internship.
